Midway through my honours year I realised I wasn’t taking photos for myself anymore. I wasn’t uninspired or feeling blocked, but just pouring all of my creative energy into the film projects for University. It was the same time as I bought my Fuji mirrorless camera, and suddenly had something to take with me wherever I went; and so the coffee project begun.

What started as a little photography prompt to keep me taking photos whilst studying, quickly became an avenue to meet some of the lovely people behind Perth’s world class specialty coffee scene.

Since the beginning of my undergrad I had taken to writing and studying in cafe’s, where the fridge was out of view and I had- for the most part- to sit down and work, lest I feel self-conscious about ambling around a busy cafe. The unexpected but also unsurprising ramification was that I became somewhat of a coffee enthusiast, snob if you will. Here are some of the highlights of my last year in coffee snobbery.
